Memry ("we," "our," or "us") operates the Memry mobile application and website (collectively, the "Service"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, and share your information when you use our Service.

By using Memry, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.

2. Information We Collect

2.1 Account Information

  • Email address (via Google OAuth or email sign-up)
  • Display name
  • Profile picture / avatar
  • Timezone

2.2 Content You Save

  • URLs you share or save to the app
  • Personal notes attached to saved content
  • Folder names and organization preferences

2.3 Automatically Generated Data

When you save a link, our AI processing pipeline automatically generates the following metadata:

  • Titles, summaries, and structured insights
  • Topic categories and tags
  • Emotional intent classifications (e.g., motivation, learning)
  • Resurface timing recommendations
  • Semantic embeddings (numerical vectors for search)
  • Dominant color extracted from thumbnails

2.4 Usage Data

  • Interaction data: swipes, views, likes, and dismissals on resurfaced memories
  • View counts and last-viewed timestamps
  • Push notification delivery status

2.5 Device Information

  • Push notification token (Expo Push Token) for delivering notifications

3. How We Use Your Information

  • Content processing: To scrape, analyze, and generate AI-powered insights from saved links
  • Personalization: To learn your interests and resurface the right memories at the right time using spaced repetition algorithms
  • Search: To enable semantic and text-based search across your saved content
  • Notifications: To send push notifications about processed content and personalized resurfacing
  • Auto-organization: To automatically create and assign folders based on content topics

4. Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services to operate Memry. Your data may be processed by these providers in accordance with their own privacy policies:

  • Supabase — Database hosting, authentication, file storage, and realtime subscriptions
  • Google Gemini AI — Content analysis, metadata extraction, embedding generation, and image/video understanding. Scraped content text, user notes, and media may be sent to Google's API for processing.
  • Expo / Firebase Cloud Messaging — Push notification delivery to your device
  • Apify — Fallback web scraping for Instagram and TikTok content metadata and transcripts
  • Vercel — Website hosting and analytics

5. Content Scraping & Platform Data

When you save a link from platforms like YouTube, Instagram, or TikTok, we access publicly available data from those platforms (titles, thumbnails, transcripts, captions) to generate your memory insights. We do not access your accounts on those platforms.

The Instagram import feature allows you to browse your own Instagram saved posts within an in-app browser. URL extraction happens locally on your device — we do not store your Instagram login credentials or session cookies.

6. Data Storage & Security

Your data is stored in a Supabase-hosted PostgreSQL database with row-level security (RLS) policies that ensure you can only access your own data. All data is transmitted over HTTPS. Authentication tokens are managed by Supabase Auth.

Profile pictures are stored in Supabase Storage. Thumbnails from expiring CDN sources are re-uploaded to our storage to ensure persistence.

7. Data Retention

Your memories and account data are retained for as long as your account is active. Deleted memories are soft-deleted (marked as deleted) and may be retained for a reasonable period before permanent removal.

8. Your Rights

  • Access & deletion: You can delete individual memories from the app. To request full account deletion, contact us at the email below.
  • Notifications: You can enable or disable push notifications at any time from within the app or your device settings.
  • Data portability: Contact us to request an export of your data.

9. Children's Privacy

Memry is not intended for users under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us so we can remove it.

10. Analytics

Our website uses Vercel Analytics to collect anonymous, aggregated usage data. The mobile app does not use any third-party analytics or tracking SDKs.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last updated" date. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
